When we began our SOS initiative we were concerned about access for our students.  Do families have devices?  Do they have home internet?  We found that about 80% of our students do have access to at least one device and internet connection. Our team provided tech support to make sure all students with access knew how to login to classes.  We did find, however, that many families still faced barriers to access:

- No home internet

- No home device

- One device shared between many family members

- Outdated/broken devices

- Attempting to participate in online learning using only a smart phone

To address these inequities, Sistema Toronto has formed a new partnership with Beanfield Metroconnect.  Thanks to their generosity, we have been able to purchase devices and provide online access to the remaining 20% of our students who would otherwise not be able to participate in online learning and improved access to those who were inadequately equipped.
